Why electrical remedial work after testing is critical to your business compliance

If you are a UK business, you must maintain good electrical safety as it is a legal requirement.

In order to meet the requirements under the Health and Safety at Work Act, remedial work must be carried out on any workplace electrical installation that presents a safety risk to employees or customers.

Once an Electrical Inspection and Test has taken place on-site, electrical dangers are identified and an Electrical Danger Notification (EDN) is issued. We will issue you with a list of observations, making it easy to identify each fault and the level of risk to your property.

The different types of observations issued are:

✔ Code 1 - Immediate attention required

✔ Code 2 - Urgent attention required

✔ Code 3 - Improvement recommended

✔ FI - Further investigation required

Under Duty holder Regulation 3 of EaWR 1989:

It shall be the duty of every Employer, Director, Manager, Supervisor and Employee whilst at work to: “comply with the provisions of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, in so far as matters which are within your control”.

It is the duty holder’s responsibility to make sure all requirements are met and follow all the legal requirements of EaWR 1989.
