Bonfire night or Fireworks night is a wonderful time for people to celebrate and get together in front of a beautiful fireworks display and keep warm in front of a powerful raging fire too.
However, when around fire and or fireworks, for Bonfire night the level of risk associated can be high, especially when doing your own at home.
Tips for staying safe:
Therefore below we have noted down some of our tips for staying safe during it, hence our title.
First of all pets need to be be left safely in doors throughout, and children should only watch the fireworks display at a safe distance. Adults should be the only persons setting up and dealing with the active firework display, as well as any lighting of fireworks.
Taking care when disposing fireworks once they’ve been used, by ensuring that no firework's are still active in any way.
Quick safety tips:
Plan ahead with your fireworks display in order to make sure that it is safe and enjoyable for everyone involved.
Keep in a closed box and set them off only one at a time in order to keep track of active fireworks.
Follow the instructions for each unique and different fireworks set, some may differ in terms of lighting, so read closely.
Keep at arms length while lighting fireworks, keeping well back while you do so.
Avoid naked flames such as sparklers or cigarettes being near any form of fireworks.
Do not return to any fireworks once they have been lit.
Don’t throw or stash any fireworks in pockets or any other places.
Keep fireworks away from any spectators.
Avoid dangerous fuels such as paraffin or petrol on your bonfire.
Check that the fire is out and that the surrounding area is safe before leaving it.
