"There’s never been a better time to switch to an EV!"

It was recently announced by the DFT (Department for Transport) that more than 1,200 charging devices were added to the UK’s EV public charging network in the 3rd quarter of 2020.

Official figures from the Department for Transport suggest that the number of charging points which were installed between July and September saw an increase of 7% when compared to the previous quarter.

However, what became clear from the report was how geographically uneven the distribution of charging devices were in the UK. The data showed that London has the highest level of charging device provision per 100,000 of the population. However, the provision of rapid charging device in the UK capital are currently below average.

In contrast, Scotland ranked high in both, with an above average level of total charging device provision per 100,000, as well as having the UK's highest level of rapid charging device provision too.

Following the release of these figures, Transport Secretary, Grant Shapps, tweeted:

“There’s never been a better time to switch to an EV as we are making rapid charge points easier right across the UK.”
