Protest ES Ltd Support Fire Door Safety Week 2020

Fire Door Safety Week arrives on the 21st and ends on the 27th of September. Protest ES Ltd support this incredible campaign as it raises the issue surrounding fire door safety in all premises.

Originally founded by the British Woodworking Federation, the BWF-CERTIFIRE Fire Door Scheme as well as the UK’s Fire Door Inspection Scheme (FDIS), Fire Door Safety Week's goal is to raise awareness for the importance of fire doors and the requirement for the proper installation and maintenance in all buildings.

In everyday use the simple purpose of a fire door is just as any other door. However, since the break-out of a fire is never predictable, a fire door, unlike any other door must perform to its prime purpose – to delay the spread of fire and smoke; protecting lives and property. - FDSW

Due to COVID-19 people all over the world are inside buildings on a much more consistent basis. With that being said, we must ensure that the buildings that people are inside more than ever before, are safe and protected from fire and are able to safely evacuate in the event of an emergency. As we sadly know all too well, with the tragedy of Grenfell Tower, high rise buildings are extremely vulnerable to the danger of fire if the proper protection is not implemented. One of the most integral parts of fire protection are fire doors, it is crucial that those fire doors are functional, safe and fit for purpose.

What the Fire Door Safety Week campaign does every year for spreading the awareness and important life saving information regarding fire door safety is incredible and something that us at Protest ES Ltd are more than happy to get behind!
