Pet Food Manufacturer ‘Making a dog’s dinner’ out of their Electrical Compliance

The situations pictured were found in one of the largest manufacturing sites for one of the UK’s most well known pet food manufacturers.

On the left, you can see this live working distribution board which was at head height without a front cover on it, and was easily accessible by members of staff. This picture below speaks for itself and is a serious issue due to the exposed, live wires.

Our engineers were carrying out several electrical compliance services within the same visit and this consisted of EICR Fixed Wire testing, PAT Testing, Thermal Imaging and Emergency Lighting Testing. The Cat 1 issues found meant there was an immediate risk of electrical shock or fire.

Our site contact was made aware of the issues straight away and our engineers made them all safe. Remedial quotations were provided immediately to the client to make the repairs and we are pleased to say that the client placed orders with us straight away and the repairs were carried out within 48 hours of the orders being received.
