Halogen bulbs on the way out?
Updated: Feb 3, 2022
With halogen bulbs seemingly on their way out this could spell for a rise in cleaner brighter LED driven future for the UK. And what a fitting story, with it being October 7th, which just so happens to be "National LED Day".
In a bid to cut emissions and save consumers on energy bills, the UK Government have laid out plans to end the sale of halogen bulbs. Fluorescent lights are to follow, but for now the focus is on halogen.
What does this mean for you?
Although the UK began phasing out the sale of these types of bulbs back in 2018, our teams of engineers still see these being used frequently in lamps across all industries and applications. Going forward, these bulbs will now need to be replaced by carbon friendly LEDs.
When will this legislation take effect?
The sale of all halogen bulbs in the UK was recently banned as of September 2021, although there is an exception of HL R7 halogens which will continue to be sold.
