Employee Spotlight - Meet Katie

In the next of our employee spotlight section we spoke to Company Bookkeeper, Katie and asked her about her time at Protest ES Ltd.

Katie is the numbers behind the operation, and is the go to person with any financial queries. A keen yoga teacher who one day hopes to travel to Thailand and see the giant Golden Buddah. You can always catch Katie with a smile on her face, she goes above and beyond to help both our clients and our staff.

1. What is your role at Protest ES Ltd?

Company bookkeeper and a bit of HR while I cover maternity leave.

2. What do you like most about the work you do here?

The volume of work keeps me busy which I like. I also find it quite satisfying at the end of the day when I can see the figures in the books have changed. I’m quite a logical person, so working in accounts suits my personality. There are no grey areas as such!

3. What are you most proud of in your career so far?

In three of my jobs, I have joined the companies where the accounts had not been kept fully up to date. I am proud of turning that around on both occasions after a few weeks and getting all the books to balance. I’m quite proud of my trouble shooting skills.

4. What's one thing people don't know about you that they would be surprised to find out?

A lot of people don’t know that I am also a yoga teacher, which I do of an evening and at the weekend.

5. What is the most interesting project you've worked on here?

I don’t really work on projects as such. But I enjoy getting involved when new clients come on board, and planning the best way for us to keep track of all the jobs when it comes to the accounting side of things.

6. How long have you been with the company?

I joined Protest in March 2020 just as the pandemic hit. I was very fortunate to keep my job, and so pleased I am still working here now.

7. If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

Definitely teleportation. Clicking my fingers and arriving on a beach anytime I fancied! That would be amazing.

8. What do you enjoy most about working at Protest ES Ltd?

Has to be the people. They are so lovely and fun to work with. Also the flexibility of being able to work from home and have a good work/life balance.

9. What’s the last song you listened to?

The new Elton John/Britney Spears one – Tiny Dancer

10. What, if anything, are you currently binge-watching?

I’ve just watched the first 3 series of Below Deck Mediterranean. Easy to watch and a bit of escapism! Even though its trash really.

11. What’s one thing on your bucket list?

To travel to Thailand and see the giant Gold Buddha. Also Japan in springtime to see the cherry blossoms. I know that’s two, but I would like to do both equally!
